Job Description

Administers, extends, negotiates, seeks approval for and terminates standard and nonstandard contracts. Prepares processes specifications, progress, and other reports; advises management and other staff of contractual rights and obligations; compiles and analyzes data; and maintains historical information.. Originates company correspondence relating to contract negotiations.

Basic Qualifications

BA or BS Degree with 5 or more years of experience related to the job description.

Masters Degree with 3 or more years of experience related to the job description.

.Additional Required Qualifications

Conducts proposal preparation, sponsored research contract negotiation, contract administration, and customer contact activities in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

Administers, extends, negotiates, seeks approval for and terminates standard and nonstandard contracts. Prepares processes specifications, progress, and other reports; advises management and other staff of contractual rights and obligations; compiles and analyzes data; and maintains historical information.. Originates company correspondence relating to contract negotiations.

Oversee, as well as, negotiate, process, and manage Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) and federal and non-federal sponsored research and collaboration agreements with external parties, including Cooperative Research and Development Agreements, Strategic Partnership Projects Agreements.

Coordinate with technical staff to develop contracting parameters and requirements.

Ability to handle moderately complex agreement negotiations and a high volume of transactions.

Involves some training of other staff in specific job functions.  

Ability to organize, oversee and perform multiple tasks, assess priorities and meet deadlines. Works closely with NREL attorneys and researchers to resolve agreement negotiation issues.

Maintaining liaison with sponsoring agencies concerning NREL’s sponsored programs and related policies and procedures; representing NREL in negotiations with sponsoring agencies to assure consistent contract provisions and policies; proactively resolving problems;

In cooperation with other NREL offices, assuring compliance with sponsor’s policies, e.g., fiscal, property, and intellectual property.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Customer-service and results oriented.
